ラオスとの国境にある北部の地域で3例の炭疽 cases of anthrax が確認されていると、保健当局が明らかにした。うち1例は死亡し、98人の健康監視が行われている。公衆衛生相 Public Health Minister が5日、死亡したのは Don Tan district of Mukdahan province で確認された3例のうちの1例であると説明した。残る2例は: one at Mukdahan Hospital and the other at Don Tan Hospital で治療を受けている。
炭疽による死亡は、タイ国内で30年ぶりとなる。4月27日に発症し、同30日に死亡した。保健当局は、感染したのはウシをと畜し、牛肉を分け合った人々とみている。
ラオスと国境を接する Don Tan district において、合計636人に感染するおそれがあるとみられ、うち538人はサーベイランスを終え、残る98人の監視が続けられている。636人全員にドキシサイクリン doxycycline が7日間処方されている。
公衆衛生当局責任者 public health chief of Mukdahan は4日、7日間の健康監視中の98人は5月7日に監視機関が終了すると説明した。これらの人々は、皮膚もしくは消化管から炭疽に感染するおそれがあるとして監視が行われた。
炭疽芽胞を吸入したおそれがある場合は60日間のサーベイランス The surveillance period が必要となるが、 the Mukdahan incident はそれには当たらないと説明され、新たな感染例は確認されていないのは a positive sign と述べられている。
the 3 confirmed cases は、タイ暦のおおみそか the eve of the Songkran Thai New Year の2025年4月12日にウシをと畜した人々 a group of people who butchered cattle in Don Tan district で、死亡した男性が使用していた包丁とまな板 the dead man's knife and chopping board で炭疽菌が確認されている。
2025年4月28日に Don Tan の他のグループがウシのと畜を行った場所で炭疽芽胞が確認されているが、この中には炭疽患者は確認されていない。
Health personnel have yet to find the source of the anthrax in the district.

ケララ州の少女1名 A young girl in Kerala は、イヌ咬傷を受けた後に抗狂犬病ワクチン anti-rabies vaccinations を受けていたにも関わらず、現在、狂犬病 rabies に感染し入院している。少女は遊んでいる時に野犬に襲われていた。複数回のワクチンを接種されていたにも関わらず、発熱しその後の狂犬病ウイルス感染と診断された。病院当局者は、ワクチン不全 vaccine failure とは考えられない cannot be attributed としている。
先住民 native of Vilakkudy in Kollam district である7歳女児が、ワクチンを接種していたにも関わらず狂犬病に感染し治療を受けているのは the SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram である。2025年4月8日に自宅の外でダックと遊んでいる時に、野犬に右手を咬まれた。a primary health centre in the panchayat を受診したあと、the Punalur Taluk Hospital で狂犬病ワクチンを接種されていた。5月6日に最後のワクチンを接種する予定であったが、高熱が持続し入院となり、the SAT [Sree Avittam Thirunal] Hospital に転院後、狂犬病ウイルス検査で陽性と診断された。
隣家でダックと遊ぶ際に野犬に襲われ、両親はただちに保健センターを受診させ、Punalur Hospital でワクチン接種が開始された。しかし先週、持続する発熱がみられ、私立病院では狂犬病の診断はつかなかったが状態が悪化し、現在集中治療室に入院している。

続けてワクチンが接種され Additional doses of the IDRV were given on 11, 15, and 18 Apr、最後の接種日が5月6日に予定されていたが、4月29日に高熱を発し、a private hospital in Kollam 入院後、SAT Hospital に転院となり狂犬病と診断された。依然として危険な状態が続いている。
SAT Hospital superintendent は it cannot be attributed to vaccine failure（ワクチン不全によるものではない）と述べている。
"She has been in intensive care since the morning of 2 May [2025]. Only in the coming days can we comment definitively on her recovery. We have started Remdesivir, but as you know, rabies has the highest mortality rate in the world.
