Summary
ニパウイルスにより、インドでは2001年以降複数のアウトブレイクが発生し、致死率はしばしば70％を超える。冬季に、コウモリ Pteropus bats により汚染されたデーツヤシ樹液、フルーツ、その他の食品を介する、人獣共通感染によることが多いが、医療現場でのヒト－ヒト感染の新たな感染リスクも生じている。

2例のニパウイルス感染例 confirmed cases of Nipah virus disease が確認され、2名は同じ病院で働く看護師 nurses (one female, one male) で、 2025年12月後半に発症した。
・2026年1月21日現在、男性患者は回復しつつあるが、女性患者は依然として危険な状態である。
・ウイルス研究所 the Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory in Kalyani における検査で1月11日に診断され、the National Institute for Virology in Pune on 13 Jan 2026 and also confirmed by India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare で確定診断されている。
・合計196人の接触者が特定され、追跡・監視・検査が行われた。
・3人の医療従事者が当初 symptomatic suspected cases とされたが、検査で陰性が確認されている。
・シンガポール、タイ、インドネシア、ネパール、マレーシアなどの近隣国で渡航者スクリーニングが強化された（although the overall risk of importation is considered low.）

キャサヌール森林病 Kyasanur Forest disease (KFD) はダニ媒介性ウイルス感染症で、インド南部の森林地帯 the forested regions of the Western Ghats in southern India, particularly in Karnataka に常在し、additional foci in Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu も含め、年間数百例のヒトの感染例が発生する。

・Katagaru village in Thirthahalli taluk, Shivamogga district, Karnataka の29歳男性が、2026年1月27日に Kyasanur Forest Disease により病院 Manipal's KMC Hospital in Udupi district で死亡し、州内で今年初めての死亡例 the state's first KFD death となった。
・この患者は1月20日に発熱の症状を発症し、21日に Jayachamarajendra Hospital in Thirthahalli に入院となり、22日に KFD と診断され、25日に Manipal Hospital に搬送されたが、28日に死亡した。
・Karnataka 州では2025年11月29日に Shivamogga で初めての患者が発生し、例年より約4週間早い感染シーズン an early onset of the KFD transmisison season が開始した。
