・ The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Ministry of Public Health and Health Cluster Situational Reportによると
as of 17 May 2026, 393例 suspected cases および 105例 suspected deaths が、
across at least nine health zones in Ituri Province, including Bunia, Rwampara, Bambu, Fataki, Logo, Mangala, Nizi, Nyankunde, and Mongbwalu において報告されている。
・ As of 18 May 2026、新たな確定診断例が確認され、Goma, Bunia, Rwampara, Mongwalu, and Butembo など国内5つの地域 areas での発生が公式に確認された。
・ 大都市地域 three major urban centers: Bunia in the east; Butembo in North Kivu; and Goma, the capital of North Kivu においても確定診断例が確認されているが、これらの地域は2025年初以来（反政府勢力の）統治下 under the administration of the Alliance Fleuve Congo (Congo River Alliance) and the March 23 Movement (M23) since early 2025 にある。

Contact tracing
・ suspected cases はすでに as early as 24 Apr 2026 に発生していたことが示唆されている。
・ 発生初期の検査として Zaire ebolavirus (more common) だけが実施され、結果は陰性だったことにより、Bundibugyo ebolavirus disease と確認されるまでの間に、アウトブレイクにより多数の感染例と死亡が発生することを許した。

Canada confirms first hantavirus case in isolation in British Columbia
[16 May 2026] クルーズ船内でハンタウイルスに曝露し、British Columbia 州で隔離中だったカナダ人4人のうちの1人が、検査陽性となった。
州保健当局者 British Columbia's provincial health officer は記者会見で、この患者は2日前に発熱と頭痛の軽い症状を発症した。患者とそのパートナーはクルーズ船内の同室の隔離者であり、 Victoria の病院に搬送し評価と検査を行ったと説明した。
