RIDOH Confirms a Case of Rare Tick-Borne Viral Infection (Powassan)

ロードアイランド保健当局 The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) から、Newport County 在住の70代男性のダニ媒介性のポワッサンウイルス感染症 a confirmed case of the tick-borne Powassan virus disease (Powassan) detected in a Rhode Island resident が報告された。7月下旬から症状 symptoms of Powassan がみられた。
”This is Rhode Island’s second case of Powassan in 2026 and the tenth case overall since it was first reported in Rhode Island in 2016 と説明されている。
ダニが媒介する感染症で、主に the Northeast and the Great Lakes region of the U.S. and in eastern Canada で確認されている。過去10年間 (2016-2025) に米国で Over 397 cases of Powassan が報告された。まれな疾患であるが、近年増加しており、2025年には全米で過去最多の76例が報告された。
In 2025, there were 27 cases of Powassan reported in New England: 12 cases in Massachusetts, six cases in Maine, five cases in Connecticut, and four cases in New Hampshire.

Between June 1 and August 14, 46 cases of Legionnaires' disease were reported to health authorities in Savoie:
39 cases involved residents of Savoie, and 7 had recently stayed in the department.
患者の年齢 age from 26 to 91.
44 cases が呼吸器の症状で入院となったが、大部分は回復し帰宅している。
3例の死亡が報告されており、いずれも80歳以上の症例であった。
