2026年10月2日、ロシア極東部・イルクーツク抗ペスト研究所 the Irkutsk Antiplague Research Institute (APRI) of Siberia and the Far East, the Russian Federation の勤務者1名の死亡について、WHO はメディア報道を通じて覚知した。記事によれば、9月26日に重症肺炎のため入院後、10月2日に死亡し、死因として研究所での職業上暴露による肺ペストが疑われていた。WHO からの要請に対し、ロシア当局 the National Focal Point for the International Health Regulations (2005) (NFP) of the Russian Federation は死亡の発生を確認し、最近 Irkutsk Oblast においてペスト患者は発生しておらず no case of plague、接触者らの検査で危険な病原体は確認されなかった no high-threat pathogens 旨の回答越した。また、研究所内での事故はなく no biosecurity incidents 、関連するその他の重症肺炎例の発生もなく、患者とすべての接触者について行った、high-threat pathogens を含む多数の微生物の検査を行った結果は陰性であったと報告した。
Description of the situation
2026年9月29日に重症肺炎で入院し、10月2日に死亡した。
Articles 9 and 10 of the International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR) に基づき、10月3日、5日、6日 にWHO はロシア政府当局に対して、2例目が発生したとする報道について確認し、Article 6 of the IHR に従って国際的な公衆衛生上の対策に資する情報の提供を求め、
10月6日、no case of plague has been registered recently in Irkutsk Oblastとの回答を得た。また、発症までの2週間に地域外を旅行したことはなかった。

Ituri: Vaccination of frontline workers against Ebola continues as part of the BRAVO study
Launched on 19 Sep 2026, this study targets a total of 20,000 people in Ituri and North Kivu.
According to the study's organizers, approximately 900 people have already been vaccinated since the start of the campaign in the Bunia and Rwampara health zones of Ituri. The research is targeting frontline workers, including pregnant women（妊婦も含まれる）.
the BRAVO study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Everbo vaccine, already licensed against the Zaire strain.

感染したアライグマの便中の寄生虫卵を嚥下したヒトの重症の神経および眼感染症の原因となる。主たる宿主であるアライグマで寄生虫を有するものは一般的で、糞による汚染のある土壌や表面から暴露することが多い。
