Case 1: 成人男性。4月6日発症，同11日死亡。微生物学的検査未実施（ a probable case）。
Case 2: 成人女性，case１の濃厚接触者。南アで症状が悪化し死亡。確定診断。
Case 3: 成人男性，4月24日に発症・下船。 Ascension Island から医療搬送され現在ヨハネスブルグの病院の集中治療室において入院治療中。確定診断。
Case 4: 成人女性，4月28日に発症し5月2日に死亡。確定診断。.
Case 5: 成人男性，船医。発症し確定診断。5月6日にオランダに医療搬送。
Case 6: 成人男性，a ship guide。軽度の呼吸器および消化器症状を訴え確定診断。オランダへ医療搬送。
Case 7: 成人男性，セントヘレナ島で下船し，同27-28日に南アおよびカタール経由でスイスに帰国し，PCR検査で確定診断。
Case 8: 成人男性，Tristan da Cunha 島で下船。その後下痢、発熱あるも状態は安定。自己隔離中（a probable case）。

Case updates
・As of 08 May 2026、the WHO から6例の確定診断例 confirmed cases および8例の suspected cases,、うち3例が死亡 fatalities (a Dutch couple and a German national) を報告しており、致死率 a case fatality ratio of approximately 38% となっていた。
・ さらに、帰国した乗船客らの間で確認された新たな確定診断 new confirmed or provisional positive cases として、フランス人女性 (in ICU care), アメリカ人 (inconclusive/mild positive PCR, asymptomatic)、およびスペイン人 (provisional positive, asymptomatic, at Gomez Ulla Hospital, Madrid がいる。
・ 加えて、下船したアメリカ人で症状がある患者の1人が、Emory Medical Center に隔離され検査結果を待っている。
Other updates
・ 大規模な複数国への搬送 multinational evacuation は5月11日に完了し、少なくとも15か国への帰国または帰国準備が進行中で、各国の公衆衛生当局による隔離もしくは検疫が行われている。
・ 欧州では、ベルギー、ドイツ、アイルランド、モンテネグロ、オランダ、ポルトガル、スペイン、トルコに帰国。ほか、アルゼンチン、グアテマラ・インド・ウクライナ・フィリピンの船員の、空路オランダへの搬送が行われた。

Transmission
現時点での仮説は、初発患者（オランダ人夫婦）が、アルゼンチンあるいはチリにおいて動物から感染した後に乗船し、船内に持ち込まれたウイルスが閉鎖環境で濃厚接触（船室、食事）により、ヒト－ヒト感染の a super-spreading event が発生したというものである。
ECDC は、遺伝子解析の結果、新型変異株ではなく not a novel variant 、既知の南米のアンデスウイルスとの比較で感染力や重症度の増強の証拠は示されていない no evidence of enhanced transmissibility or severity compared to known Andes virus lineages としている。

Key findings
・ 2023年にハト・パラミクソウイルス pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1) 脳炎により入院後26日目に死亡した、69歳のフランスの男性に関する症例報告が、Emerging Infectious Diseases in May 2026 に掲載された。男性には免疫不全および地域外 outside metropolitan France への渡航歴は報告されていない。
・ 入院する1週間前に、ワークショップ a shamanism workshop in the Ardeche forest に参加していた。
・ 入院4日前に脱力 asthenia、下痢、複視、めまいの症状を発症し、意識障害を伴わずに転倒した。
・ 入院後5日目に昏睡、呼吸不全、嚥下性肺炎となり集中治療室に移され、神経症状の悪化により気管内挿管による人工呼吸器が必要となり、入院から26日目に死亡した。
・ 死後の検査 Postmortem metagenomic sequencing により、中脳と頸部脊髄組織でウイルス PPMV-1 in tissues from the midbrain and cervical spinal cord が確認された。
・ ハト・パラミクソウイルス Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1), class II, genotype VI, subgenotype 2.1.1.2.2, carrying the virulence-associated polybasic cleavage motif 112RRQKRF117 が分離された。
・ 系統発生学的解析により、PPMV-1/Human/France/2023 が strains from China, Egypt, Belgium, and Ukraine and to APMV-1/pigeon/France/172784/2017 collected from a wild pigeon approximately 250 km from Ardeche in November 2017と近い関係にあることが示された。
・ Real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) 検査で、 PPMV-1 が中枢神経系、胸部神経節、腋窩リンパ節で、高用量のウイルス the highest viral burdens が前脳で確認された。脳脊髄液、気管支肺胞洗浄液、血液の検体は陰性だった。
・ 組織病理検査では a diffuse inflammatory infiltrate of activated macrophages, microglia, and CD3+/CD8+ T lymphocytes, with severe neuronal loss in the spinal cord, brainstem, and cerebellum; Newcastle disease virus immunostaining was positive in the spinal cord, midbrain, cerebellum, hypothalamus, and lymph nodes.

Zika virus disease in a returning traveler from Bali to Germany
・ バリ Bali とシンガポール Singapore from 07 to 27 Apr 2026 を旅行した、65歳のドイツ人旅行者は、southern Bali (Denpasar, Kuta) で3日間過ごした後に島を巡り crossing the island、北西部 Pemuteran で10日間滞在した。4月23日にシンガポールに空路で移動し、同28日にドイツに帰国した。
・ シンガポール滞在の3日目（4月26日）に微熱、全身倦怠感、項部の発疹の症状が現れた。翌日には、足首、膝、手首、手指の非対称性の激しい多発関節痛を併発し、ほとんど歩けなくなった。
・ チクングニア様症状であるため、3種類のウイルスの PCR 検査 a commercial triplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panel for chikungunya, dengue, and Zika 30 Apr 2026 を受け、chikungunya and dengue は陰性だったが、
